Hi, everybody. I just thought that I'd give me impression of last night's emmet show at South Main Cafe in Blacksburg.

I honestly think that last night's show was the best show I've ever been to. I was a little disappointed that they didn't play the usual 2 hour set that I'm used to, but they got pretty close with the encore.

My voice was nearly gone after that show. :)

EBO was the opening band. They're from Fairfax, too. I thought those guys totally rocked! They definately didn't sound like your usual opening band. I bought their independently released CD also, and it seriously sounds like a major record label, professionally done, studio recording. They are really good.

But back to emmet. I was glad to see that they played a lot of their new stuff as well as a couple of their "classics." I was especially impressed with "Fist Like a Glove." I also thought that the live version of "Guru" was really interesting. It was a great concert, and I was sorry to see it end.

I did talk to Todd for awhile after the show. I asked him about the live CD, and he said that he believes that most of the CD will be recorded in early January at the 9:30 club in DC, but he also thinks that perhaps Richmond and Blacksburg might be two likely places. He also said that the band had just finished up a tour with bands like Black Lab, and had been enjoying a couple days off before jumping back into the van and back on the road. I asked him some more stuff but I can't recall it right now.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable show, except for some drunk guy who kept bumping into people, and who eventually got thrown out. Sure, I like to drink at concerts, but I still like to be coherent enough that I can enjoy the music and not piss everybody off around me.
